Ride 2 Saturday 1st May

I wasn't going to ride today! But I got a message saying that the recycling bin that I empty at our village hall was full. The foil is sold and funds Pennington Community Allotment that does great work with Mencap members.

I really try not to use my car for short journeys and as the village hall is only about 1.5 miles away it was either walk or cycle! I've done a fair amount of walking this week, so my trusty bike won!

Barry said that it was worth recording the miles for the Heavy Metal Truants challenge in case I needed them, but how could I just do 3 miles!

I cycled a long route to the village hall and was rewarded by seeing a foal.

With the foil collected and loaded on to my bike, I set off again, intending to do a few more miles. But the sky became very black so I headed for home!

After the rain subsided, I went out on my bike again, this time on the trails that I am fortunate to live near. It started to drizzle again, but the sun was out and I was rewarded by seeing a rainbow 🌈

I was hoping that the bluebells would be out in the woods, but there was only a few and not the usual carpet of them.
But the woods looked lovely in the sunshine and the birds were singing.

I wanted to cycle about 10 miles, but I was a bit short so I cycled up the road and saw another foal.
I was relieved to find that I had just done over 10 miles when I got home!
By Barry's calculations, today I went from Enfield to Waltham Abbey

Only 151.8 miles to go!

Thank you for reading this.

Supporting New Forest Cycling Club on a D-Day Ride

I have been lucky enough to have my own mechanic (AKA my husband Barry) to mend my punctures of which I had two whilst doing the Heavy Metal...
